What We’ve Been Up To:

We are definitely seeing an uptick in orders and companies looking to keep their innovative IP safe. As we inch towards more financial upheaval in the next 6-12 months, Aurora Circuits is continuing to focus on domestic manufacturing practices that provide multiple value propositions. Total Cost of Ownership is something we broach when speaking with engineers, procurement specialists and C Level executives; if we add up the services and IP security assurances, we do compete with overseas PCB manufacturers.

Pedestal Technology in “Real Life”

We shared this image on LinkedIn a few months ago-maybe you saw it? It is an amazing illustration of our pedestal technology: each one of the large pads has a thermal conductivity of 380 W/mK. The pedestal pad allows for a direct transfer of heat to the copper substrate material, whereby the dielectric has been completely removed through our specialty processes. While we have seen this been used in the lighting market, we see this technology being utilized in the chip carrier, EV and power electronics markets. The ability to substantially pull heat away from critical components is a battle that all designers face, regardless of the end use of their products.

Why Not Tax Credits for Buying American?

This excerpt is from an upcoming “Chris’s Corner”, a blog which regularly appears on our website, authored by Dr. Christopher Kalmus, President of Aurora Circuits:

As far as I’m concerned, it all starts with our domestic customer wanting to work with us. After all, these are the folks who were lured to China by the promise of cheap prices, underwritten by cheap labor and little to no regulations.

Let’s remember that China did not come and invade our country and steal our customers. They gleefully ran to China for the appeal of those cheap prices. Although tariffs did alleviate the trade imbalance somewhat, in the end, they also hurt some of our own industries, as well. Tariffs, by in large, are not very productive nor a sustainable strategy to foster continuous growth.

However, a productive incentive to drive domestic growth through purchasing would be to give tax credits for buying American PCBs. I have confidence that this initiative would be a conduit towards boosting our domestic demand for domestic products, making sure that critical American products be built by American manufacturers.

I support the recent introduction of HR7677 (The Supporting American Printed Circuit Boards Act of 2022) where our industry is on the cusp of receiving historical government investment. Most importantly and listed in the draft bill, positive, long-lasting results will be for our government to instill and maintain tax credits for companies buying American PCBs.

Think about it. It makes a lot of sense.
