What’s Happening at Aurora Circuits

We had a great time at APEC in Orlando. We were able to meet so many new faces and catch up with some that we haven’t seen in years. It became readily apparent that PCB fabricators like Aurora Circuits have a place in this ecosystem and we intend on garnering more capabilities to serve this market. Many of our conversations revolved around IMS, heavy copper PCBs and IP protection, confirming how critical it is to nourish domestic partnerships for supply chain resiliency and data integrity.

Our next scheduled show is the EV Charging Infrastructure Summit in Chicago, July 11th-12th. We hope to see you there.

Aurora Circuits: The Heavy Copper Experts

Power electronics applications use heavy copper, and, as mentioned throughout our communications, Aurora Circuits is the heavy copper PCB expert. We published a blog earlier this month covering this very topic. Please see an excerpt below and visit here for the full article:

Applications include circuit boards that need high current (up to 1300 amps peak and 400 amps continuous) and thermal dissipation like solar and wind power collection, aerospace/military, telecommunications, automotive and other applications. Some products are automotive smart junction boxes, battery management systems, power supplies, inverters and converters, high power circuits that have MOSFETs, IGBTs and other high current components running hundreds of amps through the circuitry.

Currently, designs have been made for power distribution, power collection, battery powered transportation, EV charging systems and LED lighting. Additional future use will depend on new applications needed in the marketplace. You also need a supplier that changes with the market to meet these specialized needs.

State of Our Industry

The new Congress has a lot of heavy lifting ahead of itself as we enter into and world continuously dogged by supply chain issues, inflationary pressures and global security uncertainty. At a macro level, it is easy to see why microelectronics has previously not been top of mind. However, current and upcoming legislation (CHIPS Act and a soon-to-be released Supporting American Circuit Boards Act) display that we are no longer an unknown entity to the government and the voting public. The momentum is definitely going in the right direction and we need to continue lobbying for more awareness regarding our industry.

A pertinent fact remains that we (domestic PCB fabricators) are still losing ground to overseas competition. Whether this is due to cost, capabilities or longstanding investment, all intervention measures will come up short if the single most important variable is not addressed: demand. Without this, our slow descent to irrelevance will remain unchecked, slow walking towards an eventual demise. We fully endorse the work that the PCBAA, USPAE and IPC are doing to bring awareness and any legislative actions must include incentives to all US domestic manufacturers to “buy American”. We are not looking for a “free lunch”; rather, we need a more even playing field to secure our industry’s future and, subsequently, that of the United States.

A lot has changed over the past 70 years, but what hasn’t changed is Aurora Circuits dedication to remaining 100% American Made. With over 70 years of knowledge and experience to make your project a reality, we stand by our commitment to manufacture the highest quality products founded on expertise and innovation.
