What We’ve Been Up To:

We are starting to shift our business model at Aurora Circuits to better accommodate quick turns and prototypes. We have always “hung our hat” on our full production capabilities, but are now answering the current market needs for fast engineering projects. We have instituted new process workflows to ensure a speedy and quality build. The next few months are going to be exciting for us!

When it Gets Heavy, Ask the Experts

It is never too late to learn something new in the PCB world. You may oftentimes hear a PCB term but never focus on exploring it further-maybe it is out of your design/production sphere or something that you never fully explored. Heavy copper might just be that one that pops up every now and then; as the need for better thermal conductivity increases with high heat applications, we welcome a chance to share our knowledge and experience with you. We are including a design parameter table below which may assist your upcoming designs. Feel free to reach out to us at contact@auroracircuits.com to discuss your next 3oz + project.

August IPC Spotlight

What is happening at the macro level

The “August IPC Economic Report” focuses on the surprisingly partisan topic: recession. Most economists have accepted that the definition of a recession is at least two subsequent quarters of negative GDP growth. This was pretty cut and dry since 1974, but then COVID happened. Never before did we artificially stop and start the global supply chain, pumping trillions of dollars into the economy to keep households and businesses solvent. This is not a critique of the global shutdown and subsequent policies, rather the uncertain nature and projected outcomes of this “recession”. Case and point: “The U.S. economy added 528,000 jobs in July. As U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen noted, ‘when you’re creating almost 400,000 jobs a month, that is not a recession.’ Industrial production rose at a healthy 6.2% annualized rate in Q2, which strongly suggests that the economy is not in a recession.”

It is clear that this economic climate is turbulent and not following previous, classically labeled “recessions”. Artificial shutdowns and recoveries have brought us to an unknown path-we will soon find out if our recovery will be rapid or drawn out over many quarters with job reductions with negative growth. At this point, only time will tell.
